Speech and Language


The Schiefelbusch Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic students and faculty provide both assessment and intervention services to people of all ages who have communication challenges.

  • Services are provided in a variety of settings, including individual clinic, community and home.
  • Services include speech-language assessment, speech-language therapy, the Language Acquisition Preschool, and the Pardee Augmentative and Alternative Communication Laboratory.

Speech-Language Assessment

Assessment services are provided to individuals of all ages for articulation or speech sound disorders, language impairments, voice disorders, problems in fluency or stuttering, and neurological impairment related to head injury, stroke etc.

The assessment typically includes comprehensive testing and observation, interviews with the consumer and family members, and consultation regarding the clinical findings and recommendations.

Assessments for speech and/or language concerns can be scheduled by completing the Intake Questionnaire or calling the Clinic.

Speech-Language Intervention

Speech services include intervention for speech sound disorders, voice disorders, problems with fluency or stuttering and motor speech problems.

Language intervention services address the developmental language problems of children as well as those that are acquired as the result of stroke, head injury or other neurological issues.
